Sarah Kahn

From the moment I started doing hair, I envisioned having my own salon. I wanted to create a beautiful and intimate space that was inviting, relaxing and luxurious while making people feel their best. In 2011, my salon dream finally came true and opened the doors to Sarah Kahn Hair, located in the MarQueen Hotel.

Hair History

After graduating beauty school in 2002, I was an apprentice and worked my way up to stylist at Gary Manuel Salon in Seattle. I worked for several years as a stylist and makeup artist at Gary Manuel. I then worked at Haven Salon in Ballard as a lead stylist while using my makeup skills at various events around the city before opening my own salon.

Continuing Education

Keeping up on the latest techniques and trends in hair and makeup is very important to me, so I immerse myself regularly in continuing education.  I have studied with Vidal Sassoon, Davines, Aveda, Sally Rogerson, Kurt Kueffner, Antoinette Beenders, and many other amazingly talented hairdressers.

Inspiration

I wanted a career where I could be artistic and make people feel good. Being a hair stylist lets me do both simultaneously. There is no greater feeling than bringing out a person’s inner beauty and confidence through the perfect cut or color. My clients are my inspiration!

Hair is...

The ultimate accessory you dont ever take off, and a great way to express your personal style.

To me hair is one of the first things I notice about people and I love everything about its individuality.

Products Should

Enhance what’s naturally there and add confidence to your day. Finding the right combination of products mixed with styling tools can change your whole morning routine!  We carry many organic hair and beauty products including Vintners Daughter, Kjaer Weis, Rahua, Reverie, RMS Beauty, Koh Gen Do, Leonor Greyl and Herbivore Botanicals. Come check them out!

THE Salon Is...

Warm, private and fun. I really wanted to create an intimate space and boutique where you could sip tea while your color processes and learn about whats new in the world of beauty.  I love supporting niche, founder-led companies that are ingredient focused and enjoy being able to talk to my clients about them!

We are by appointment only so please feel free to text to make sure we will be there for you when you stop by!

The salon is also super cute...come see!

Tricks of the Trade

Conditioning treatments, dry shampoo, cool shot on your blow dryer... patience and practice! The right tools can make your at home hair routine so much better!

Specialties

COLOR of all kinds! Tailored men’s cuts, Redheads, curly/wavy hair, balayage and hair painting, long hair, makeup and makeovers. By working with natural textures and tones my clients are able to achieve the same salon look at home. I like both my cuts and colors to translate to everyday wearability.

Eco-Friendly

My salon is a certified Green Circle Salon. That means I recycle and repurpose hair, foils, colour-tubes, papers and plastics and divert excess hair chemicals from being rinsed down the drain. Being gentle on the environment is important to me and I love being able to say SKH is doing just that!

Make Up

We carry RMS and Kjaer Weis products at the salon. Using certified organic products that perform can change your makeup game. Your skin should always breathe and be center stage. I enjoy everything from showing a client a new lip color to working with the natural beauty of your skin to show you how to bring out that glow!

Color Techniques

I love everything from a subtle blonde with an easy grow out to a bold redhead and even grey coverage. Working with the Davines color line allows all my colors last longer and feel healthier. To me healthy hair is key and bringing out natural shine allows any color to be beautiful.

For Fun

Being with my son Benjamin, cooking, shopping for new items for the salon, reading green beauty blogs, listening to podcasts, traveling, collecting art and loving kitties, like my Little Miss Colette.

Taylor Miller

I instantly fell in love with doing hair while I was in cosmetology school in my hometown of Las Vegas. I couldn’t wait to jump right into salon life as soon as I finished up with my training. I was extremely fortunate to start out in a salon packed with talent that allowed me to continually grow and learn throughout my 5 years there.

Having been to Seattle many times and enjoying not only the city and the scenery, but also the people, I decided to say goodbye to the palm trees and desert and make the move! I was very fortunate to quickly discover Sarah Kahn Hair and even more fortunate to find Sarah herself.  I am truly looking forward to this new phase of my career and I can’t wait to expand on my artistry as a hairstylist and make my clients hair dreams come true.

HAIR IS

The crown you never take off! To me it’s a reflection of your style, personality and often how you are feeling at that moment in time.

INSPIRATION

My inspiration comes mostly from nature. In Las Vegas, the warm weather and mountains provides such amazing colors. Often I see an epic sunrise or storm pass thru that inspires me and I can't wait to get to the salon and translate it onto hair. I especially love hair painting because I can really customize each client's hair to a one-of-a-kind piece of work. See some of my hair inspo on Instagram @Taylorkaaay.

PRODUCTS SHOULD

Make your life easier and enhance your style, healthy hair is my favorite!

Specialties

Balayage and hair painting are my favorite! The lived in, shadowed root look, I just cannot get enough of. As much as I love my blondes... brunettes hold a very special place in my heart. I love rich dark colors with lots of depth.

For Fun

My fur babies are my world. Paisley and Bella have such silly personalities! I'm such a family gal.  My family is my rock, heart, and soul. Also, I love: music; going to shows; old vinyl records; I'm a huge foodie; and I love finding new coffee shops and restaurants. I can't wait to explore more of Seattle and its own hidden gems!
